More and more, European higher education is oriented towards the future role of students outside university, in society. The priority of higher education therefore shifts to teaching students how to continue to acquire new knowledge and to use knowledge in a societal context. Science shops offer one method to include experiences with these aspects in the curricula.
- New Communities and Mental Health in Ireland: A Needs Analysis
Dublin City University in partnership with Cairde
This EC funded project was developed within the Science Shop framework as promoted by the International Science Shop Network and mentored by the Science Shop of Queen’s University, Belfast. The NewCom project dealt with two issues of major concern to Irish society that are generally under-researched and under-funded. These issues are mental health and the welfare of new communities.
