Discover the neighbourhood of Corvinus University of Budapest

Tuesday, 29th May, 18.00 – 20.00

Guided Tour for 10-25 participants

On this walking tour we will look around the 9th district and identify places that are part of the community’s memory. An area undergoing huge changes but keeping many physical artefacts. The walking tours shows us feautres of the city district like the first steps to a self-sustaining park and it ends in a local craft beer bar where participants can have an insight to the Hungarian beer-revolution, and can taste local beers (on their own expense).

In partnership with the  ZöldutaBudapest, 2016 Budapest Degrowth Conference organisation team and Cargonomia social cooperative.

Documentary Theatre

Eight Roma women from Borsod County are the actors of the one-hour long auto-ethnographic theatre performance through which they reenact their personal life stories. The play deals with issues of motherhood and ethnicity in relation to the struggles of Roma women to raise their children in an apathetic, often hostile society and institutional environment. The presentation is part of the sociodrama based action research entitled SelfTheatre.org launched by Participatory Research Forum in 2016.

The event is taking place at Trafó House.

Conference Dinner with Local Dance

Social dinner event with optional dance learning

We would be happy to welcome you at the LK8 conference dinner that will take place in a bustling restro-bar in the middle of the ’ruin-bar district’, in the downtown of Budapest. Apart from the informal, friendly atmosphere and superb dinner with drinks, this year we will continue past years’ traditions: participants will familiarize with the Hungarian traditional folk dance, then they will have the chance to meet locals and explore the well-known nightlife of the city.

Sociopoly

Sensitizing Board Game for 20-25 participants

Sociopoly is a sensitizing board game where you have to survive the days of an average month in the conditions of people living in extreme poverty. Players must calculate with the budget of the permanently unemployed, incomes and costs are approximately equivalent to today’s Hungarian reality. During this game, anyone can try out what subsidies, family allowances, child benefits and income from casual work are enough for.

Budapest, a city in transition – guided tour with local food and wine tasting

Saturday, 2nd June, 11.00-15.00

Guided Tour for 10-25 participants

Budapest has become famous in the last years for its network of creative and innovative alternatives. During this walk we will see places and meet people with the promise of a better functioning society – with some counterexamples as well. The places include a community garden run by locals, a shop with organic produce from nearby small-scale farmers, a café sourcing reliable products and providing a stage for talented musicians and alike.

In partnership with the  ZöldutaBudapest, 2016 Budapest Degrowth Conference organisation team and Cargonomia social cooperative.

Participation fee: 15 EUR – local food and wine tasting included
